Mafia Wars - Tips 4
Exploding Cannoli - (22 Attack 21 Defense) I wonder how many readers are clicking through the tabs trying to find this weapon. It doesn’t exist! It’s just a way to draw your attention to the different promotions that the suite of games presents every once in a while. They will eventually have to recycle ideas. The list of possibilities isn’t infinite.
These weapons are either made available by making referrals (2 more friends + game cash) or by paying for them with reward points. Either way the designers are looking to increase their cash flow to pay the staff that designs these games and buy more Ferraris. If you want to see the games continue and develop, you will improve the chances of this happening by either getting friends to sign up or by purchasing reward points.
These weapons are only useful if you don’t have enough Napalm & Bodyguards to go around for your mob. Napalm for offensive strength and Bodyguards for defensive strength.
Hospital - If you get the message “Cannot heal that fast” try doing one job or attack a player that is already too weak to fight. Then go back and attempt healing. You may be able to heal faster now and not wait. Personally, I find this particular feature of the game an unnecessary nuisance but I’m not on the design team.
Things You Can’t Do - I’ll give you guys credit for googling some creative ways to try to get stuff in Mafia Wars but some things are designed to keep players in the game.
- You can’t steal a player’s money when it is in his bank. That’s what the 10% surcharge is for (that’s why it is called a safehouse).
- You can’t steal a player’s reward points (under Godfather). I still think the only use they should be used for is to purchase additional players since everything else can be earned in the game through fights and time.
- You can’t get Napalm, Bodyguards and Armored Cars through jobs in the first four levels, only through fights. It may be possible to get them in Underboss jobs but I do not have enough players to research that yet.
- You can’t give other players money, weapons, armor or vehicles. You can only give them grief and a bloody nose. Using the punch in the face command too much will almost guarantee that your name will appear on the Hitlist.
Can you win a fight against a mob larger than you? - Absolutely. but you better make sure you have strong weapons, armor and vehicles with high Attack numbers. Also your experience points should be spent on attack if you are going to choose this route. I like to have it more balanced. I usually target no higher than 1.5 times the size of my current mob size, sometimes up to 2. I think my best yet is around 11 or 12:1. The other guy had something like 334 members but they were equipped with junk. Remember, a good game strategy is quality over quantity.
Mike’s Bar - You want to buy this every 2 new players that you add to your team. This is the game’s cash cow. It offers the best return on your money for just about anything in the game. Also buy the featured weapon at the same time. Never ever ever ever sell Mike’s Bar. What can you do with the money in the short term when you will get that back and more in less than an hour?
