Pirates, Space Wars & Football - Adding Players

(also works in Gang Wars & Vampires)

With these game releases, Zynga has improved the system that you can use for adding players to these games via Facebook. I started trying a simple system to increase the numbers some (in Pirates first) because I started to see a pattern of people having fun. The game was a little frustrating with a small crew. (Space Wars is new to me today)

Well, the system worked pretty well. I now buy the Shoulder Parrot in Pirates and the Nitro Uniform in Football 10 at a time just to make sure that the new folks have some decent protection before we can upgrade their other needs.

So far, with all the new friends in Pirates, I have been able to purchase 19 City of Gold islands ($12,000/hr. each and 21 Monkeys - A18 D18. Crew size is only 50 and I’m not sure I will go beyond 75. Quality vs. quantity is always a good game strategy)

Here’s how it works. I look for somebody in a fight or in the list on the homepage of those that have attacked me. Most importantly, I don’t look for players with big numbers. In fact, I look for just the opposite. The players with the smaller numbers want to join in the fun but are having the same frustrations that I had. I particularly like to invite someone immediately after beating them. It shows that I have a heart.

For the example, we’ll use Pete the Pirate. What you do is go to the blue coloured game name Pete the Pirate and click on it. Find the larger version of Pete the Pirate and click on it. The players Facebook Find a friend screen will pop up and give you some idea about the real person playing. If you get bounced to your Facebook home screen that player chooses not to be identified. That’s their choice and they have that right.

You might want to set up a group called Pirates in you Facebook Friends section called Make A List so you don’t get confused about who your new friend is. Now click on the Add a Friend option and click the add to list for Pirates. Also add a personal message. You use what you feel is right for you. Mine is “Pirates - Looking for another player for your team?” Short, polite and welcoming. My mom would be proud and it’s OK to talk to strangers at your age. Mom did that to protect you when you were a lot younger.

I look for people that seem to want to have fun. That’s what games are about aren’t they? I think Pirates is going to be at least as successful as Mafia Wars and quite possibly even bigger. The picture of one of my choices and one of my favourite game names I’ve seen so far, is shown below. I think she’s got the right attitude.

I certainly hope Scarlet is OK with me showing her picture here. She is certainly easy on the eyes.

Some people that play online games take it way too seriously. I’ll write about that another time.

PS. One of the side benefits is that you will ultimately get additional players for other Facebook linked games that you might play like Mafia Wars, Mob Wars, Special Forces, Vampires, World Domination, etc. etc. etc.

Don’t forget to add the high return “property” and featured weapon ($10,000) every 2 players that you add. You will be surprised how quickly they show up on your doorstep!

Have fun and enjoy the games.
