Are You Getting Weirder?
Are You Getting Weirder?
“Is it just me or are you getting weirder in your twilight years???”
I got this message in the start of an email from a friend I haven’t seen in a while. We’ve worked together on the golf course for the past few years and we have developed a conversational style of plain and simple honesty between each other. We aren’t afraid to tell it like it is. We don’t get offended. We just find a way to get even. And then have a good chuckle about it.
I think as you get older, you develop a sense of how right you were all along. I think they call that self-confidence. Why is it that a lot of your peers and teachers dwell on the “don’t do this and don’t do that” sales pitch?
I must admit, I have a history of not listening to my elders. It started back in high school. Like a lot of teenagers, I was very shy. I didn’t have a lot of confidence in my abilities. Somehow, I ended up being President of the student council. That started the big ball rolling. I started to learn how to do things differently. Convention and traditional methods were something you challenged.
I think I’m better off now for having taken that approach, even if I am a little weirder.
