It Must Be Hard Growing Up Today
It Must Be Hard Growing Up Today
The cover story in the Lifesyles section wasn’t very comforting in today’s newspaper. It talked about a new and unsettling trend with some of today’s direction less teenagers. It’s called embedding. You stick sharp objects under your skin for some unknown reason.
I had the same reaction. We didn’t abuse ourselves in our days as teenagers. We played road hockey, pick up baseball, raced our bicycles on fabricated racetracks in the local schoolyard. We went to dances at the YMCA or local community centre. Sure, we consumed a little alcohol, but we didn’t mutilate ourselves.
We dreamed of playing in the NHL, hitting the winning home run in the World Series, racing at Daytona, Indianapolis, Monte Carlo.
What does our youth dream of today?
